As Europe looks forward to sitting down en masse to cheer and jeer at what our neighbours consider the best their nation can offer in terms of music, Wild Rooster was granted an audience with Serbia’s hopeful Nina to discuss preparations for the big event.

“Rehearsals and everything that goes along with preparing for the event are going well and on schedule,’ said Nina. “Everything is on time and I am totally relaxed right now. There is no pressure around me and the atmosphere is fantastic. I don’t have anything on my mind except to sing the best I can.”

Royal Rights to be Restored in Montenegro?

Montenegro’s former royals could be returned to some of their past glory, if a draft bill backed by descendant Prince Nikola Petrovic-Njegos (right) is adopted by the country’s parliament.

The Petrovic dynasty ruled Montenegro for more than 200 years until 1918, when it was toppled by the Serbian Karadjordjevic dynasty.  Deposed King Nikola died in exile in France.

Banja Luka Fashion Fair Hosts Region’s Big Shots

Bosnia’s fashionistas will get their annual fix of catwalks and air-kissing when some the region’s leading designers and models gather for the Rimmel Banja Luka Fashion Fair 2011 (7-9 May).

In five years, organisers Alta Axis, supported by the City of Banja Luka and the Government of the Republic of Srpska (Republika Srpska) have produced Bosnia’s biggest and most significant fashion showcase, attracting international attention.

Belgrade Students Beat Off Stiff Competition to Triumph in Europe

Europe salutes Serbian entrepreneurs as a talented team of Belgrade students beats the odds to win at the Sustainable Energy Europe Awards.

Strawberry Energy were invited to the seat of the European Union in Brussels to attend the European Commission’s prestigious award ceremony (12/4/11). Not only did they hold their own alongside far more established businesses and brands – they walked away with the trophy.

Their win came in the ‘Consuming’ category for their Strawberry Tree public solar powered phone charger, imagined, designed and delivered by Strawberry Energy’s charismatic CEO Miloš Milisavljević.  The device, deployed outside EU offices in Brussels during the event, was rewarded as the best within ‘projects, activities or services designed to help reduce energy consumption’.
