Little Britain Star Matt Lucas to Film Therese Raquin in Serbia

Leading British character actor and award-winning comedian Matt Lucas will travel to Serbia in coming months to film a movie version of Emile Zola’s Therese Raquin. The much-loved actor and star of international TV hits Little Britain and Come Fly With Me will shoot in Serbia alongside Oscar winning American actress Jessica Lange.

Matt is best known to TV audiences for Little Britain and the world of unforgettable characters and catchphrases he introduced through the smash sketch show. Many of these characters have already gone down as comedy classics, such as health spa nightmare Bubbles Devere, abusive slimming coach Marjorie Doors, teenage delinquent Vicky ‘yeah but no but’ Pollard ‘, wheelchair cheat Andy Pipkin and ‘the only gay in the village’ Daffyd Thomas.

These memorable characters hit a note with audiences worldwide and have helped to make the show’s creators Matt Lucas and David Walliams international stars. This week, Matt said it was quite likely that the pair will work together on a future project.

As well as firmly establishing himself with TV audiences and the YouTube generation, Matt has also starred in a movie version of The Wind in the Willows (2006) and appeared in a duel role as dumpy twins Tweedledum and Tweedledee in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (2010).

Jessica Lange is best known for Cape Fear (1991) and for her Oscar winning role in Tootsie (1982). She won her second Oscar for Blue Sky (1994). Recently, she received excellent reviews for her haunting role in US TV’s American Horror StoryCharlie Stratton will direct this version of the classic French novel Therese Raquin, scheduled for release in 2013.

Jessica Lange also won the 1994 Oscar for Best Actress for “Blue Sky”.

Thanks for adding that. I am sure I could list many more interesting projects for both Jessica and Matt. I just kept titles to a minimum for reasons of space. I appreciate the additional Oscar detail though.

You’re welcome. Though I understand spacial constraints, you should still update the article because the fact that she won two Oscars is more important than the fact that she starred in “Cape Fear” 🙂
